The author’s purpose was to summarize the facts and analytical judgments about the archeological researches of this scientist already available in separate disparate publications in different years; to attract and analyze some new materials, mainly concerning his museum activity. The archaeological expeditions which he participated in since the end of the nineteenth century are mentioned, and which have been carried out in different regions of Ukraine – on the territory of modern Chernihiv, Cherkassy, Zhytomyr, Odessa, Vinnytsia, Kirovograd regions. The significance of some of his works in archeological studies relating to different periods of primeval and early class societies has been briefly outlined. New little-known facts of M. K. Yakymovych's work as a director of the Uman Regional Local Museum during the Nazi occupation have been revealed. The author offers his own substantiated versions to some questions about Yakymovych’s activities that have not yet been adequately covered. The author made an assumption that the scientific activities of Meczyslaw Yakymovych during his life had not gained proper recognition in his own vision, and at the end of his life, this could be one of the reasons for the scholar's open or hidden conflict with some of his colleagues in the museum and archeological professional environments. It is concluded that the activity of Mechyslav Yakymovych as an archaeologist and museum worker is marked by a significant amount of work and the importance of the results achieved. Under various political regimes, he was engaged in field archaeological research, restoration and conservation activities, and the promotion of museum collections. Prospects for further explorations concerning the life of Mechyslav Yakymovych are seen, in particular, in the elucidation of the key facts of his early biography, about which there is very little information yet.
