Three main groups of historiographical sources were defined and analyzed, such as soviet, modern Ukrainian and foreign. The content and tone of the first group were heavily impacted by the circumstances of that period. Due to the stern political and ideological control of totalitarian regime Ukrainian historical researches were distorted, free and independent voices were pursued by authorities, thus all branches of research were coordinated by Moscow and adjusted to soviet notions. Fact mentioned above is noticeable in specialized publications about Volyn in the 60th – first half of 80th. Very little attention was spared for village’s themes, mainly in the context of social, cultural or educational issues of the period of so-called developed socialism. During the course of analyzing modern Ukrainian historiography new stage of research was detected. The process of revaluating historic past has begun, thus transition to the new theoretical and methodological positions has been made. Considered above overcomes accustomed stereotypes and templates and established ideas. The third group contains foreign researches, among which works by Ukrainian Diaspora scholars are presented. Article emphasizes that the given group can be distinguished by its considerable theoretical level, interesting methodology and thorough analysis provided by published works.</p>}, number={50}, journal={Zaporizhzhia Historical Review}, author={Maiboroda, O.}, year={2018}, month={Dec.}, pages={355-360} }
