@article{Mykhailiuk_2019, title={The role of Adolf Eichmann in solving the «Jewish issue» in Europe}, volume={2}, url={https://istznu.org/index.php/journal/article/view/215}, abstractNote={
The article is devoted to the biography of Adolf Eichmann. Analyzes work of the «Jewish Department» RSHA, was directly responsible hat the deportation of European Jews to death camps Poland. Attention is focused on the postwar process of harboring Nazi war criminal, secret abduction from Argentina, the trial in Jerusalem. The study substantiates the belief that Eichmann was not only a «butcher at his desk» but the «victim» of Nazi regime built on terror and pathological hatred of Jews. Eichmann was not the only one who was responsible for the fate of European Jewry. The liquidation of Jews was sanctioned by Hitler. Apart from Eichmann, who carried out the orders of management, the destruction of the Jews directly involved heads of the police and SS, SD, Gestapo – Himmler, Heydrich, Kaltenbrunner, Mueller and head of the economic and administrative management SS Oswald Pohl, who obeyed concentration camps. They gave anti-Semitic orders and instructions. The performers were local commandant camps and police chiefs and SS. Auxiliary functions performed Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The findings indicate that Eichmann, after leading the «Jewish department» of the RSHA, became a «killer at the desk», as one stroke of the pen solved the fate of millions of people, for which he suffered a just punishment. But he could not act in a different way. Although, perhaps, there was a possibility to abandon this work and move on to another, but he did not. On the contrary, having reliable information about the massive destruction of Jews at death camps, he continued to follow the orders of the leadership regarding the delivery plan of the Jewish contingent, thereby prematurely condemning thousands of people to death. Especially without concern for the fate of the Jewish population of Europe, he, as an ordinary bureaucrat, honestly and calmly performed his duties without thinking about the possible consequences. At the same time, it seems that Israeli justice has made Eichmann a kind of «scapegoat» for all the crimes committed by the Nazis against the Jews, systematically making the European continent «is free of Jews». However, this does not remove the responsibility of the Nazi criminal for anti-Jewish activities, and the death sentence is still the most severe punishment in the legal proceedings of many countries of the world.</p>}, number={52}, journal={Zaporizhzhia Historical Review}, author={Mykhailiuk, M.}, year={2019}, month={Dec.}, pages={227-237} }
