In this paper author made an analysis of the course and outcome of the struggle for the imperial crown between leading Western monarchies. One of the main problems of this article is singling out the features of foreign relations between the dynasties of Polish, Hungarian and Czech Jagiellonians, Austrian and Spanish Habsburgs and French Valois.
