The primary focus is on the legal restrictions of religious organisations activity in the Ukrainian SSR that was a manifestation against the government anti-religious policy. It should be noticed that due to the rejection of the new economic policy and the transition of the Soviet power on the way of Stalin’s modernisation, all religious communities were placed under the total pressure of the government bodies without any exception. The unauthorised actions of the authorities and the destructive elements, which were used in 1932–1933, led to the moral and physical exhaustion of the believers. Via a number of examples, a typical algorithm for converting church buildings into premises, which were far from their primary purpose of use, is analysed. The position of clergy of all denominations and hierarchy degrees, as well as methods of pressure on them are characterised. Repressive actions let to uncertainty about future, pessimistic feelings, fear for one’s life, as well as often to exile or death. The main point is confirmed that despite religious atheist propaganda and repression, religious life tended to continue even due to the conditions of famine.</p>}, number={53}, journal={Zaporizhzhia Historical Review}, author={Ignatusha, O. and Hruzova, T.}, year={2019}, month={Dec.}, pages={140-150} }
