The author analyzed Soviet historiography, as well as foreign researchers‟ contribution to the historiography of this problem. It highlights the priority topics for studies af Soviet and emigre scientists. The acticle emphasized the weakness of the argument of Western historiography, caused by insufficient base of sources at a time when Soviet historians were able to bring to the scientific circulation numerous historical sources. The example of scientific papers prove that the insurgency led by Nestor Makhno described in the historical literature of the Soviet period was biased and distorted character that was associated with the dominant ideology.</p&gt;}, number={44}, journal={Zaporizhzhia Historical Review}, author={Zelenyak , O.
