Archive of banker Jucundus in Pompeii

Abstract

The article analyzed arhive of IOU‟s which was made on waxen wooden boards, founded during excavations of the Italian city of Pompeii in 1875 year which received was named of science “Archive of banker Jucundus”. In whole the archive contains 153 documents dated 27-63 AD. Part of the archive (docs. 1-137) – is a receipts for the money which was provided to Jucundus, or his relatives for the goods acquired at the auctions. Another part of (docs. 138-153) – this is receipts of colonists of Pompeian colony of veterans Veneria Cornelia in getting money Jucundus, for the rent of various objects, which belongs to colony. Parts documents of archive are translated, the others are retelling in the article.
