LVIV MID TO LATE XX CENTURY MUSEUMS AS A PART OF THE SOVIET PATRIOTIC EDUCATION FRAMEWORK
The article investigates Lviv museums' cultural and educational activities through the lense of ideological upbringing. 1960 to 1980ies Lviv museums' cultural and educational activity areas and objectives have been analyzed. It is stated that the museum exhibitions were one of the most important activity areas for Lviv art experts of the period under consideration. Forms and methods of exhibition activities under ideological control have been analyzed - specifically, the Soviet regime persistently demanding from the museum staff to gradually raise impact on the audience thought of as first and foremost the communist upbringing program. Open lectures, at least one third of them focused exclusively on political issues, were considered highly efficient from this perspective. It is concluded that, by following the party and political regulations and cultural policies, Lviv art experts would establish a kind of "protective shield" for research activities barely fitting the official ideological frames yet tolerated by the authorities.
