Anatoliy Gumenyuk„s main scientific achievements and contribution to the development of the sunflower breeding in Ukraine
Abstract
Doctor of Philosophy in Agriculture Anatoliy Gumenyuk„s biographical data, scientific achievements and contribution to the development of the domestic sunflower breeding were investigated and systematized. This scientist wrote a large number of scientific works (more than 120) on breeding, seed production and agricultural technologies of sunflower cultivation, among which there are 14 copyright certificates (including creation of high-yielding sunflower cultivars zoned in different regions of the Ukrainian SSR). The breeder has achieved the biological maximum of oil content (up to 60%) in his sunflower seed populations in practice. Anatoly Gumenyuk is a representative of Kharkiv school of breeders. He worked during the historical period of sunflower breeding – namely in the period of transition from population to heterosis sunflower breeding.
