MEDICAL SERVICE IN THE UKRAINIAN NATIONAL ARMED FORMATIONS (ON THE EXAMPLE OF THE UKRAINIAN INSURGENT ARMY)

Abstract

In the article on the example of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army the organization and activity of the medical service are considerate in the conditions of hostile occupation of Ukraine and guerrilla warfare, the interaction between the Sanitary Service of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army and the Ukrainian Red Cross was considered, the emphasis was placed on medical staff performing their professional duties underground. The purpose of the article is to comprehensively study the peculiarities of the organization and functioning of various parts of the medical service of the UIA, as the Ukrainian national armed formation, in particular the sources of drugs and medical аinstruments in the guerrilla struggle without outside support. In preparing the work, we used a set of general scientific methods – historical, comparative, chronological, synthesis and analysis. The use of different methods and a wide source base allowed to reveal the purpose of the study, to obtain relevant results and to identify specific conclusions. The functioning of hospitals and medical center to provide assistance to sick and wounded UIA soldiers, their staffing with doctors and paramedics were analyzed in detail. Special attention is paid to the figures of the most famous doctors of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army – representatives of different nationalities and emphasis on their role in the liberation struggle of the Ukrainian people is pointed out.
