Abstract

The article considers the state programs of Great Britain in the field of edu cation, which were introduced during the government of «New Labour» Tony Blair and his successor Gordon Brown (1997-2010). To keep the State compet itive on the world market, attention must be paid to reforming the education system to meet modern requirements, through programs aimed at lifelong learning.
The main purpose of this work was to review government programs aimed at reforming all levels of education in the United Kingdom. The method is based on the comparison and analysis of documents. Modernization programs devel oped by the administrations of Tony Blair and Gordon Brown have proposed complex and structural changes from preschool to higher education and life long learning.
We conclude that this goal includes the establishment of preschool facilities for all children between 4 and 5 years of age, the massive introduction of the latest computer technology in schools, and the improvement of children’s lit eracy in English, mathematics, and science. Attention was paid to the profes sional development of teachers and school administratio
One controversial reform was the introduction of university tuition fees. With the increase in funding needs for higher education, the State budget remained limited, and university tuition fees were necessary. We note an increase in the percentage of students who have received the National Standard. Negative measures include the introduction of university fees, insufficient salary in creases for teachers, etc. But, this educational reform will not prove its effec tiveness in the coming years, and it is only a matter of time, especially since the United Kingdom is in the leading position in the quality and efficiency of education, the number of foreign students, etc.
