Based on the materials of oblast periodicals and using the example of the Zaporizhzhia region, the article reveals the role of education during the renewal processes of economic and cultural-educational life of the civil population in the afterwar period. Applying general scientific methods of analysis and output generation, the author highlights the key objectives of educational institutions, as well as outlines their dependency on the party and government regulations regarding their commitment of five-year plans. With the help of the classification method, the main specialisation directions of educational institutions of all levels in the oblast are established.

Considering the resources, the Soviet authorities had actively used mass me dia to control and manipulate the perception of Soviet people. It should be mentioned that with the use of psychological methods of influence in media, the formation of a positive attitude towards the educational process among all age categories took place. Notably, in the researched period, reconstruction of educational facilities had been done actively, so the prestige of pedagogical and vocational education was promulgated successfully.

In the research, the author characterises the interaction of specialised scientific institutions with businesses and cooperative-run farm. The remarkable thing is that cooperation was based on lecture practice, scientific and technical consultations, as well as conferences without a day release.

Notably, radio broadcasting made the proliferation of advanced experience among the oblast citizens efficient and, therefore, the application of “distance learning” appeared among the representatives of agricultural sector. The author draws attention to the functioning of party schools that were in charge of the training and retraining process of leading party and Soviet representatives in the field.

Accepting the five-year plan in 1951–55, the Soviet power continued the course of education development including the enlargement of material and human resources, staff and collective farmers professional development. In Zaporizhzhia oblast, the educational process was formed based on the government and party regulations which oriented towards the economic interests of the Soviet State without consideration of the personal needs of their citizens.
