Abstract
The detailed description of important scientific experiment, which was organized by M.S. Filonenko in 1896, is suggested in the article. The aim of experiment was to reveal the possibility of quick train speed. In order to receive the real results, the area between Kyiv and Odessa (654 km) was chosen. Three trips was organized as an experiment. The duration of the trip had to be 10 hours 40 minutes with block speed 61.55 km/hour and high speed 93.88 km/hour.
